Move of the Month from SVPT: Routine
As summer shenanigans come to an end, September is the time of year that we fall back into fitness and routine. Organizing a routine is paramount in helping you be more consistent in your exercise goals, and we all know that consistency is the key to success.
One important routine we can easily forget in our daily workout is the warm up. We tend to jump right in without giving our body the proper rehearsal it needs to perform exercise safely and effectively.
The warm up serves many purposes such as increasing blood flow, lubricating the joints, activating the muscles and increasing oxygen consumption. Basically, it primes the engine for optimal performance.
Next workout, try this warm up exercise, called “World’s Greatest Stretch”. It covers all the bases listed above (and more!). Aim for 3-5 reps per side.
This warm up exercise can also be part of your morning routine when you get out of bed to get the body moving and blood flowing.
